About Munkebo Kro

Munkebo Kro is a small, luxurious hotel where quality is a keyword

Munkebo Kro has 22 beautiful, elegant and tastefully furnished rooms – including 2 wonderful suites.

Part of Munkebo Kro is Restaurant Duck, presided over by Thomas Pasfall, the chef. In Restaurant Duck, Thomas Pasfall and his crew offer gastronomic experiences of the best quality, where everything naturally is prepared from the bottom, with the best raw materials of the season.

Restaurant Duck has been awarded 3 stars by “Gudme Raaschou Spiseguide”, like it has received “Best Awards of Excellence” from Wine Spectra.

Annesofie & Thomas Pasfall

Thomas began his career as a 16-year-old at “Bygholm Park Hotel”, where he soon was apprenticed as a cook. Together with Annesofie, he later completed his training as a waiter at “René” in Aarhus - after this Annesofie got a job in Germany at “Die Ente Vom Lehel”.  Thomas was convinced that he was not going there with her. But the ways of love are past understanding, and suddenly Thomas found himself as head of the fishing party, in the very place where he had sworn he would never go.

Since then the duck has followed Annesofie and Thomas as a personal symbol of love, quality, and all good feelings.

During the summer of 1995, Thomas was chef for the Danish Queen on the royal ship “Dannebrog”.
In 1996 the restaurant “Grå Anden” in Frederikshavn opened, with Thomas as chef, and Annesofie as the head of the restaurant. Here they started their by now large collection of ducks in all shapes and sizes. In 1999 they got the opportunity to re-establish Munkebo Kro and they quickly accepted. On 1st of April 2000, the doors of a thoroughly renovated inn were opened, a Danish inn where the soul still remains. When it opened it had no logo nor symbol, so they naturally chose to call it: Duck, The Duck.

Restaurant Duck was born, and today it is known as one of the best restaurants in Denmark.
